Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: March 15, 2002

Please note that the abstract submission form on the website will be removed after the deadline for submission of abstracts and there will be no possibility of late submissions.

Participants who would like to make a presentation at the congress must submit an abstract for consideration by the Scientific Committee. As at previous IUCr meetings, a number of abstracts will be selected for oral presentation during the microsymposia. Most abstracts will be presented as posters and instructions on the preparation of posters will be included with the notification of acceptance.
The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.

Only the abstracts of authors who have registered and paid registration fees by June 1, 2002 will be included in the program and in the Congress Book of Abstracts.

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Abstracts must be written in English and contain a brief, clear statement of conclusion; avoid statements like "the findings will be discussed".
  • All abbreviations must be defined before being used as an abbreviation in the text.
  • The content of the abstract is solely the responsibility of the author.
  • There is space for approximately 250 words of text in Times New Roman Font 12 point. Do NOT use a smaller font size. Use single spacing.
  • The title should contain not more than 100 characters. Titles with more than 100 characters will be truncated.
  • Include graphics only if they will help get your point across, and if they will reproduce well in black and white - the Program and Abstract book will not be printed in color. Please remember that the area of the printed abstract is small and the graphic will be correspondingly smaller. Please save your diagrams at the correct size and in grey-scale (or at a much reduced color-depth) before including them in your abstract.
  • Presenting author: The name of the presenting author must appear first in the list of authors. No one may be first author on more than ONE contributed paper. Invited speakers are, however, permitted to submit a poster presentation in addition to their talk.
  • Keywords: three keywords must be supplied; these are used for the index.
  • Category: please indicate a theme and sub-theme, chosen from the list of Main Topics
  • Oral Presentation: Authors who wish their abstract to be considered for presentation within a microsymposia must additionally indicate the number of that microsymposia (see the SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM)
  • Invited Speakers
Please note that abstracts for invited presentations (keynote lectures and microsymposia) must be submitted according to the instructions above, and should be received by the general abstract deadline of March 15, 2002.
